Indian Fish Stew (Meen Moily)

500 gms seer or king fish
3 tsp cooking oil
2 big onions sliced thinly
2 green chillies, slitted
3 cm pc ginger, chopped
6 pods of garlic peeled and chopped
2 medium-sized tomatoes, chopped
1 stalk curry leaves
1 cup thick coconut milk and 1 cup thin coconut milk

For marinating
2 tsps of lemon juice
1 tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp salt

Procedure

* Clean fish, wash and drain.
* Mix the ingredients for marinade, and marinate the fish for 20 minutes
* In a heavy bottom pan, add oil, garlic, sliced onions, green chillies, ginger, tomato and curry leaves, and fry till onions turn brown.
* Add the thin coconut milk and bring it to a boil.
* Add the fish (slip it slowly inside the gravy). Mix gently, cover pan and cook over low heat for 15 mins or till fish is cooked.
* Stir in thick coconut milk and remove from heat.
