This is first in the series of great recipes that are really simple to try out. It is always good to start with a sweet. Nothing better than Carrot Halwa to begin with.
Things you need to make great Carrot Halwa:
Half a kg bright orange carrots
750 ml milk
250 gm sugar
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder and
1/2 table spoon ghee (Clarified Butter)
Steps in the preparation process
1. Clean, Peel and Grate the carrots.
2. Take the milk and the grated carrots in a heavy bottomed pan. Boil the mixture in medium fire stirring continuously till the mixture thickens . Once the mixture has thickened add sugar and continue cooking till the mixture thickens further.
3. Now Add the ghee, and cardamom powder and mix well.4. Reduce the fire to a simmer and continue cooking on low heat till the mixture becomes a sticky mass and the ghee gets released on the top.
5. Now your carrot halwa is ready to serve. Garnish with cashews or almond flakes.
