Great Recipes - Carrot Halwa


This is first in the series of great recipes that are really simple to try out. It is always good to start with a sweet. Nothing better than Carrot Halwa to begin with.

Things you need to make great Carrot Halwa:

Half a kg bright orange carrots
750 ml milk
250 gm sugar
1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder and
1/2 table spoon ghee (Clarified Butter)

Steps in the preparation process

1. Clean, Peel and Grate the carrots.
2. Take the milk and the grated carrots in a heavy bottomed pan. Boil the mixture in medium fire stirring continuously till the mixture thickens . Once the mixture has thickened add sugar and continue cooking till the mixture thickens further.
3. Now Add the ghee, and cardamom powder and mix well.
4. Reduce the fire to a simmer and continue cooking on low heat till the mixture becomes a sticky mass and the ghee gets released on the top.
5. Now your carrot halwa is ready to serve. Garnish with cashews or almond flakes.
